Objectives

To maximise the contribution of tourism to economic development and sustainability at a destination level.

To encourage investment in the visitor economy by local authorities and partnerships through both the enhancement of the public realm and the provision of tourism services.
To promote the significance of destination tourism to the European Union, national and local government.
To represent the common interests of the membership to the European Union, Westminster and devolved government, political parties, national organisations and on all relevant national standing committees.
To ensure the membership’s views are represented in all written and verbal consultations and comments on tourism performance and policy.
To encourage and enable the sharing and adoption of best practice in the provision of and support for tourism services at a destination level.
To co-ordinate the collection and benchmarking of robust and timely tourism data and management information at local authority and destination level.
To support the implementation of agreed national tourism strategies.
