Department for Culture, Media and Sport:
The Central Government department responsible for tourism is D.C.M.S.  It aims to increase the size and productivity of the tourism sector.

VisitBritain:
This is the official website for the UK tourism industry from Britain's tourism marketing body.  The website is packed full of market intelligence & research, advice and opportunities for promoting your destination in the UK and overseas.  You can also sign-up online to receive their free e-updates in order to keep abreast of the latest industry news.

Tourism South East:

Tourism South East (TSE) is SEEDA's delivery agent for tourism.  It exists to drive major improvement in the management and performance of the sector.  TSE works in partnership with local authorities/ destinations, bringing together the many organisations, partnerships and businesses that make up the tourism sector so limited resources are used to best effect.

Tourism Management Institute:
Set up in 1997 the TMI is the professional institute for destination management in the UK with around 340 members who are all involved in the visitor economy.  Membership is open to those working in local authorities and attractions, information centres, destination management partnerships, visitor bureaux, regional tourist boards, regional development agencies, national tourism organisations and suppliers of professional services.
 
Tourism Society:
The Tourism Society is the forum for professionals working across the whole spectrum of the visitor economy, providing through its meetings and events a platform for debate, a voice for the sector, a conduit for exporting expertise and a stimulus for increasing professionalism.
 
Local Government Association:
The LGA exists to promote better local government.  It works with and for its member authorities to realise a shared vision of local government that enables local people to shape a distinctive and better future for their locality and its communities.

British Resorts and Destinations Association:
The British Resorts and Destinations Association (BRADA) is the trade body for substantial, well established local authority sponsored tourism interests in the UK, enabling members to meet and communicate on matters of mutual interest.  Membership offers a number of unique, cost effective, added value advantages and services.

Tourism Alliance:
The Tourism Alliance was established in 2001 as the "voice of the tourism industry".  Comprising over 45 key tourism industry organisations, it works with and lobbies government on issues relevant to the growth and development of tourism and its contribution to the UK economy.

Institute for Sport, Parks & Leisure:
ISPAL, the Institute for Sport, Parks & Leisure. Formed out of two previous bodies (ILAM and NASD), ISPAL is a charity dedicated to the workforce of this vital leisure industry, at all levels, in all three sectors – public, private and voluntary.
